322 million people in Africa experienced severe food insecurity in 2021!

The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) estimates that 322 million people in Africa experienced severe food insecurity in 2021. Based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale, people with severe food insecurity have run out of food and, at the most extreme, have gone days without eating.

This number is globally increasing but most severely in Africa, which is staggering and highlights the urgent need for action to address food insecurity and ensure access to food for all.

💡At AlphaSeeds, we believe that bridging the financing gap for small and medium-sized enterprises in the agri-food sector is vital in improving food security and creating sustainable economic growth in Africa.

We are committed to supporting SMEs in the agri-food sector to access the financing they need to grow and thrive. By doing so, we aim to contribute to a future where food insecurity is a thing of the past, and everyone can access the healthy and nutritious food they need to thrive.

💬 What do you think are the most effective ways to address food insecurity in Africa?
