Guavay is transforming the agricultural landscape in Tanzania by empowering smallholder farmers with access to locally produced organic fertilizers sold under Hakika brand. The company’s approach is holistic, with farmer needs and market opportunities always at the forefront. Through a unique combination of organic and mineral fertilizers, along with hands-on training, Guavay helps farmers boost their yields and thus increase their income by up to 30%.
Guavay’s solution not only enhances agricultural productivity but also promotes environmental sustainability and decreases dependency on imported fertilizers. By restoring soil health and helping farmers adapt to climate change, Guavay is creating long-term benefits for both farmers and the ecosystem.
The impact venture was founded by four innovative entrepreneurs: Ahad Katera, latifa mafumbi, Azalia william, and Noah Bendera, who met at the University of Dar es Salaam. With diverse yet complementary backgrounds, they were driven by a shared passion for addressing organic waste management and declining soil fertility in Tanzania. After participating in an incubation program in 2014, they launched Guavay.
